Day One: Marrakech – Imi Oughlad – Tizi N'Tachte – Tiziane

We depart early from Marrakech for a scenic drive south through the Moulay Brahim Gorge and upper valleys, reaching the Imi Oughlad trailhead (1450m) at the foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains. Here, we are greeted by our Berber muleteer crew and begin a 2-hour acclimatization hike along switchback mule tracks, passing cornfields and pine and juniper woods to Tiz n'Tachete (2000m). We pause to admire the view of the Imlil and Ait Oussaden valleys before continuing for another half hour to Imi n'Ifri for a picnic. We then embark on a leisurely 2.5-hour hike southwest along a dirt track to Assif n'Ait Oussaden and the terraced village of Tiziane (1750m), where we will stay in a Berber house.

Day Two: Tiziane – tizi n'taghrhourte – D'knt

After breakfast, we set off on our hike through the Assif n'Ait Oussaden Valley, passing walnut groves to Tizi n'Taghrhourte (1995m). We’ll enjoy a rare flat stretch to Assaka Spring, where we'll have a picnic in serene surroundings after about 2.5 hours of easy walking. In the afternoon, we’ll hike down the forest edges to the Berber village of D'knt (1870m) or Agouns n Assoul, where we'll have dinner and spend the night in a Berber house.

Day Three: D'knt – Tizi n'tagdalte – Azib n Tamsoult

We embarked on a 3-hour morning hike through walnut groves and fields of corn and barley, encountering sheep, goatherders, and women and children carrying 20kg loads of firewood and dried herbs. We crossed the tizi n'tagdalte, then descended among juniper trees to a small spring where we stopped for a picnic. Refreshed, we continued down winding upper slopes for another 3 hours until we reached a small river at the start of the valley of assif n'ait oussaden. From there, we entered the village of tizi oussem (1850m) and made our way to the Tamsoult hut.

Day Four: Azib Tamsoult – Tizi Aguelzim Pass – Toubkal Refuge

After breakfast, we head east on a moderately challenging hike along winding mule tracks to Tizi Aguelzim (3550m). From there, we continue southeast for another 3 hours to the Toubkal Refuge at 3207m, the spring snowline, where we'll have dinner and spend the night.

Day Five: Refuge Toubkal – Toubkal Summit – Imlil – Marrakech

Enjoy an early breakfast before departing at 6 am for a challenging three-hour ascent to the highest peak in the Maghreb (4167m). The view from the summit is breathtaking. When you're ready, we'll take the Ikkhibi Sud or South Cirque for a guided 2 to 3-hour descent back to the Refuge for a picnic lunch. Afterward, we will head north along steep, zigzagging trails down the higher slopes of the Valley of the Assif n'Isouhouanem n'Ouagounss toward the Shrine of Sidi Chamharouch, located by a waterfall. This pilgrimage site, a remnant of pre-Islamic culture, is off-limits to non-Muslims. Another two hours downhill will bring us to the village of Imlil, the starting point for most treks, where we will catch transport back to Marrakech.
